Name: Daniela 

Position and area:  Finance associate 

Years of service: 4,5 years (since September 2016)  

My main job(s) in 2-3 sentences:  I process and post all incoming invoices and travel expenses, create payment runs and reconcile accounts. I also manage a subsidiary of Railpool GmbH and prepare monthly and annual financial statements.  

What is special about RAILPOOL as a company? 

The mixture makes the difference! At Railpool, you have many, sometimes very different colleagues who always give good input and live a culture of togetherness – and the development of the company in recent years is also exciting to follow. Here is always something going on! 

What do you think of the Railpool Academy offer and what have you already used? 

The Railpool Academy was for a long time what Railpool had still been missing. The offers are varied and there really is something for everyone. I myself have already completed an Excel advanced training and a training for the Self and time management evidenced. 

You are also currently taking further training as an accountant. What motivates you to do these alongside your day job and family? 

I had the plan to further my education for a long time. As anaccountant, this is somehow a logical consequence or rather a goal – at some point you also want to be an accountant. This “someday” was always postponed by me to the time when my children are older at least attend secondary school. That way I still had a bit of a grace period. 

However, when I was working on the annual financial statements two years ago, more advanced knowledge would have been very useful to me – and so it was clear that someday would come sooner than expected. My department head also pushed me in the right direction. And now, in the fall, I’m already finished with the advanced training – and the youngest child is going to secondary school… It’s all quite exhausting, but I’m very well supported privately and professionally, so it’s going well. 

You have a family and are therefore also required to work – how well can you find the right balance?  

Time bottlenecks and discrepancies should be addressed directly, both professionally and privately, so that no resentment arises. A solution can be found for everything. Sometimes it also helps to simply go for a walk in the fresh air – this clears your head and often helps you to put things back into perspective.  

What motivates you every day? 

I simply enjoy working at Railpool, meeting my colleagues andfacing everyday office life together with them. Because it never gets boring at Railpool! 

My best experience at RAILPOOL so far was…  

…definitely our 10th anniversary celebration in Hamburg. What an event!
