Munich, 24 November 2022 – RAILPOOL Group, one of Europe’s leading rail vehicle leasing companies, has received two awards for its commitment to sustainability. In its second participation in the international GRESB sustainability rating, the group improved from a 4-star rating to a 5-star rating with 94 out of 100 points. RAILPOOL achieved 100% of the possible points in all environmental performance indicators of the GRESB rating, i.e. in the areas of energy, greenhouse gas, air pollution, water and waste. In EcoVadis, the world’s largest sustainability rating, RAILPOOL proudly ranked in the top quarter of sustainable companies in the ranking and was awarded a silver medal. Both rankings looked at the RAILPOOL Group and its workshops.

Ingo Wurzer, CFO of RAILPOOL, explains: “With our consistent commitment to a sustainable fleet of electric and bi-modal locomotives since the company was founded, our commitment to climate protection is firmly anchored in our corporate strategy. We have set ourselves the goal of significantly strengthening our efforts based on the ESG pillars of environment, social affairs and governance and
have ourselves challenged through independent rankings for this purpose. The fact that we were able to improve our result in the GRESB rating to a 5-star rating within just one year is confirmation and an incentive to stick to our goals. The recognition of our work with a silver medal in the world’s largest sustainability ranking makes us additionally proud and motivates us to keep our work up. We have big plans!”

EcoVadis is a sustainability rating platform for assessing corporate social responsibility and sustainable procurement. The topics evaluated were the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. With 90,000 companies participating internationally, it is the world’s largest sustainability rating.

GRESB is a rating and benchmarking system for measuring sustainability performance and was developed specifically for the assessment of fixed assets. Founded in 2009, it provides standardized and validated environmental, social and governance (ESG) data for financial markets.
