December 10, 2021

++ Aachen-based Talbot completes 100th FlixTrain coach, 140 planned by May 2022
++ Close cooperation between FlixTrain and its partners Talbot Services and Railpool
++ New offer for the winter timetable from December 12: A total of 11 destinations are accessible from Aachen with FlixTrain, including Berlin, Cologne and Hanover
++ 100% green electricity, guaranteed seats for all passengers and travel times at ICE level
++ Tickets available from EUR 3

Aachen, 10 December 2021 – Right on time for the new FlixTrain timetable, Aachen-based Talbot Services has modernized the 100th car for FlixTrain – making the medium-sized company just as decisive in the national and international success of the green long-distance trains as Railpool, which is the owner and financier of the rolling stock. Not least thanks to its partners, FlixTrain will be able to further expand its services for the timetable change on December 12.

Aachen passengers will then be able to reach 11 cities with FlixTrain, including Berlin, Cologne and Hanover. Tickets are available from as little as EUR 3.00. On all connections, FlixTrain not only uses new modern trains and, unlike competitors, guarantees every passenger a seat at no extra charge, but is also particularly fast. From Aachen to Berlin, for example, travel times are around six hours, and Cologne is reached in less than 45 minutes. This puts FlixTrain journey times on one level with ICE trains.

Strong offer with strong partners

Starting December 12 with the new time table, passengers can travel a total of 11 destinations from Aachen between Fridays and Sundays. Connections go to Cologne, Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Essen, Dortmund, Hamm, Gütersloh, Bielefeld, Hanover, Stendal and Berlin. On top of that passengers travel with a clear conscience, as all FlixTrain trains are powered by 100% green electricity.

All trains in service have been completely refurbished. Talbot Services, a medium-sized company based in Aachen, has already modernized a total of 100 coaches for FlixTrain, and will continue to do so up to a total of 140 by May 2022. These comprise a completely overhauled interior with new seats, power sockets by the seat, modernized toilets and Wi-Fi technology including free entertainment services. Furthermore, FlixTrain guarantees seating for ever passenger – at no extra charge. The company is thus setting new standards in train travel and stands for affordable, modern and comfortable mobility. “Our passengers’ feedback on the trains from Aachen is very positive,” Matthias Müller, Managing Director of FlixTrain, is pleased to say. “With FlixTrain we are on track for growth in Europe. The modern trains help to make our service even more attractive to our passengers.” The completion of the 100th coach also represents a milestone for the partners. “The refurbishment project for FlixTrain was an important development step for Talbot. With the project, we realized the refurbishment including engineering per customer requirements,” said Dirk Reuters, Managing Director of Talbot Services. “The full service for the wagons including maintenance represents a strong extension of our service portfolio.” Ingo Wurzer, CFO at Railpool GmbH, says: “Railpool is a proud partner of this successful business model, which delivers environmentally friendly mobility to an increasing number of travelers through an attractive offering. The offer has been well received and we are very pleased to be providing a total of 140 coaches by May.”

Comprehensive hygiene concept for a safe ride

Since the beginning of the pandemic, strict hygiene measures have been in place at FlixTrain to ensure safe travels for passengers. The trains are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after every journey, and check-in is exclusively contactless. In addition, masks (FFP2 or surgical mask) are compulsory in accordance with country regulations. FlixTrain works closely with the authorities in this regard and implements all measures according to respective resolutions. Accordingly, the German “3G rule” (passengers in public transport are required to be vaccinated, recovered or tested) is also implemented and compliance of passengers is checked. Passengers are obligated to carry proof their status with them when boarding the train and to show it as soon as they are asked to do so. If passengers refuse to do so, they will be excluded from the journey.
Passengers find an overview on current measures on the FlixTrain Website.
