RAILPOOL Italia starts its activities with a broad agreement with Captrain Italia Group
November 11, 2020
RAILPOOL Italia announces today its official start of operations by signing an agreement to lease 6 new Bombardier E494 with Last Mile to Captrain Italia S.r.l., with an option for additional 2 units. This agreement comes together with the announcement of a partnership agreement signed between Tiber.co OMR and RAILPOOL Italia for the supply by Tiber.co OMR of maintenance services to RAILPOOL locomotives. RAILPOOL will provide training and spare parts to Tiber.co OMR to execute maintenance of RAILPOOL fleet in its Asti depot, which will become one of the main maintenance hubs of RAILPOOL in the Country.
“We are happy to welcome RAILPOOL as our partner both as Captrain supplier and Tiber.co OMR customer; this strong cooperation will allow Captrain and Tiber.co OMR to further grow in terms of fleet but also for what experience and competence are concerned. We trust this will be the beginning of a long-term cooperation between our companies”, declares Mauro Pessano, CEO of Captrain Italia S.r.l.
“I am extremely proud of the agreements signed with Captrain Italia and Tiber.co OMR, by which we will be able to start operations with a reliable partner for both lease and maintenance on our fleet” states Alberto Lacchini, Head of Railpool Branch Italia and Director Southern Europe. Torsten Lehnert, CEO of Railpool GmbH adds “I want to thank Captrain Group for the trust expressed in our company; by investing in Italy and by opening a local branch with an expert team on board we confirm our commitment to the Italian market, as basis for a future expansion in all Southern Europe”.
Locomotives will start their operations in January 2021 and will be used by Captrain in the domestic Italian market. The Last Mile functionality present in the locomotives will allow Captrain to serve non electrified lines such as industrial hubs and terminals, increasing the transport flexibility.
